Some backgorund about our club's history from our members.........
" I remember joing the club as a young lad some 45 years ago! (1964 ish). We used a hut behind the George pub in Addlestone, Surrey. We had no dedicated flying field as RC then was rare & expensive. Control line and free flight were the order of the day. I do remember someone trying to fly a jetex model around a pole indoors but all it did was fill the hut with smoke! We used to fly at Cobham common either at Radio Hill or the Monument, then for a short time at Stoneleigh Common near Fairoaks. This was free flight, control line and a little bit of single channel radio.
We then started to use St Pauls school's playing field on a Tuesday evening, again almost all was control line. A few sets of galloping ghost and Reads style radio appeared before I disappeared off to college in the early 70's and reappeared in 75 with my first set of Futaba radio. We used various Farmers fields in Effingham, and another on the Hogs Back, until it must be about 1986 or 87 when we startrd at Kempton and have been there ever since.
John Knight and Bob Sleat are the two founder members, John being the original owner of Addlestone Models."

" There was a period that the club flew at Fan Court School just on the outskirts of Chertsey / Chobham. The club was a regular at the Grange Primary School Summer Fete flying control line in the playing field and occupying a classroom ! I was a member of the club when club night where held at St Pauls School and was 13 at the time, through to the first 4 or 5 years at Kempton. I still look back to those days, otherwise I would not have seen the club website ! "
