Useful information about our club

·       A friendly, relaxed club dedicated to the flying all types of Radio Control aircraft only.

·       Our flying site is an open grass area inside Kempton Park racecourse, Sunbury-on-Thames.

·       The site offers daytime, 7 day a week access subject to around 25 no fly days a year when race meetings or other organised functions are held. Also access after 14;00 on most Wednesdays and some Fridays is banned due to floodlit evening racing.

·       Access to the site is via a padlocked gate and electronic swipe barrier to which an individual key and swipe card will be issued upon acceptance of membership.

·       The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and enjoys its third party liability insurance protection.  It is a requirement therefore, that all members of the club must also be members of the BMFA and exhibit a current certificate before flying.

·       We have training initiatives for new fliers utilising the buddy box system and have examiners for BMFA A & B certification for both planes and heli pilots. We would suggest that new pilots contact the club before buying an aircraft and radio equipment as this will need to be matched with club equipment for buddy box training. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate training up to 3 new pilots at anyone time, so there maybe a waiting time for new pilots to receive tuition.

·        Junior members are particularly welcomed.

·       Current adult membership (over 15’s) is £80 a year. Junior membership is £40 per year. All annual subscriptions are renewable in May.  Any member under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian until the age of 18.  On joining, membership subs will be calculated according to the number of remaining months before the annual renewal is payable.

·       There is a one-off joining fee of £25 to cover costs of stationery, postage, etc.  New members will be also be required to pay a £15 deposit for Security Keys and swipe card to gain access. This is fully refundable upon return of these items.

·       We would suggest that you contact the club and arrange a visit with your pride & joy before joining, so we can meet and show you around the site. The flying site does have a tree that new pilots might find awkward, that occasionally has “magnetic attractions” to aircraft.
